Website Not Loading?

Occasionally, Alpaca's filters may block a legitimate website. Here's how to fix it.

Quick Fix: Pause Protection

If you need immediate access to a website:

  1. Click the Alpaca icon in your menu bar
  2. Select Pause Protection
  3. Choose a duration (15 minutes, 1 hour, or until resumed)
  4. Access the website
  5. Resume protection when done

Permanent Fix: Add an Exception

If a website you regularly use is being filtered:

1

Open Settings

Click the Alpaca icon in your menu bar and select Settings.

2

Go to Exceptions

Navigate to the Exceptions section.

3

Add the Domain

Click Add Exception, then type or paste the website's domain (e.g., example.com). You don't need to include https:// or www..

4

Confirm

Click Add. The website will now load normally, even with Alpaca's protection active.

With Expert Mode enabled, you can also add exceptions directly from the live log — click any blocked domain to allow it.

Still Not Working?

If websites still don't load after pausing Alpaca:

  • Check your internet connection — Try loading a website in a different browser
  • Restart Alpaca — Click the menu bar icon → Quit Alpaca, then reopen from Applications
  • Restart your Mac — This resolves most Network Extension issues
  • Check for VPN conflicts — See VPN Conflict

If you continue to experience issues, please contact our support team with details about which websites aren't loading.
