Alpaca Is Now on Android

Not every family has the same phone

In lots of families, not everyone has the same phone. One parent has an iPhone, the eldest has a Samsung, and there's a tablet in the kitchen that everyone shares.

The risks don't care which phone your child ended up with. Adult websites, gambling ads and scams dressed up as free prizes reach an Android phone as easily as any other. Keeping kids safer online shouldn't depend on the brand of their device.

Alpaca is now on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. It helps you decide what reaches your child's devices.

What Alpaca does

Kids spend most of their time in apps: games, videos and chats. Alpaca works quietly across all of them at once, so there's nothing to set up app by app.

With a few taps, Alpaca helps keep out:

  • Adult websites
  • Gambling and drugs
  • Scams and dangerous websites
  • Annoying ads, and the hidden trackers that follow what your family does online
  • Social media, when it's time for a break

Set up in a couple of minutes

Tap the things you want blocked, or pick a ready-made setting like Family.

1

Install Alpaca and create your account

Get Alpaca from Google Play and sign up with your email address.

2

Choose what to block

Tap what you want blocked, or choose the Family setting.

3

Allow Alpaca when asked

Your phone asks for permission once. Tap OK.

4

That's it

Alpaca starts helping straight away, across the apps on the device.

About that "VPN" message: Android may say that Alpaca is setting up a "VPN". That's just the name Android uses for this kind of permission. Your child's browsing doesn't go through us.

A small home-screen widget shows whether protection is on, and turns it on or off without opening the app.

What your kids do online stays private

Alpaca checks websites right on the phone. We don't see the websites your family visits, we don't keep a list of them, and we never sell your data.

  • No ads, and nothing in the app that tracks how you use it.
  • You can see what Alpaca has stopped. That list stays on the phone.
  • Your login stays locked to the phone, and isn't copied into online backups.

All we keep is your email address, so you can sign in. We never see your password, and we don't store it. Only you know it.

Try it free for 7 days

Alpaca is free for the first 7 days, then it's a yearly subscription through Google Play.

Already using Alpaca on a Mac, iPhone or iPad? Now your Android phones and tablets can join in.
