Managing Filter Lists

Last updated: 2026-03-14

What Are Filter Lists?

Filter lists are collections of known harmful, tracking, or advertising domains. Alpaca checks every network request against these lists and filters matches before they can load.

Default Filter Lists

Alpaca comes with carefully curated default filter lists that cover:

  • Malware & Phishing — Known malicious websites and scam pages
  • Advertising — Ad networks and ad-serving domains
  • Trackers — Analytics and tracking services that profile your browsing
  • Adult Content — Websites with inappropriate content (optional)

Managing Lists

Open Settings

Click the Alpaca icon in your menu bar and select Settings, or right-click the icon and choose Settings.

Navigate to Filter Lists

In the Settings window, click the Filter Lists tab.

Enable or Disable Lists

Toggle individual filter lists on or off based on your preferences. Changes take effect immediately.

Automatic Updates

Filter lists are updated automatically in the background. Alpaca checks for updates regularly to help ensure your protection stays current against new threats.

You don't need to manually update filter lists. Alpaca handles this for you.
