Website Not Loading?
Occasionally, Alpaca's filters may block a legitimate website. Here's how to fix it.
Quick Fix: Pause Protection
If you need immediate access to a website:
- Click the Alpaca icon in your menu bar
- Select Pause Protection
- Choose a duration (15 minutes, 1 hour, or until resumed)
- Access the website
- Resume protection when done
Permanent Fix: Add an Exception
If a website you regularly use is being filtered:
Open Settings
Click the Alpaca icon in your menu bar and select Settings.
Go to Exceptions
Navigate to the Exceptions section.
Add the Domain
Click Add Exception, then type or paste the website's domain (e.g., example.com). You don't need to include https:// or www..
Confirm
Click Add. The website will now load normally, even with Alpaca's protection active.
With Expert Mode enabled, you can also add exceptions directly from the live log — click any blocked domain to allow it.
Still Not Working?
If websites still don't load after pausing Alpaca:
- Check your internet connection — Try loading a website in a different browser
- Restart Alpaca — Click the menu bar icon → Quit Alpaca, then reopen from Applications
- Restart your Mac — This resolves most Network Extension issues
- Check for VPN conflicts — See VPN Conflict
